Not to mention it is believed caffeine might play a role in pre-term labor. Frequently after birth, babies whose mothers consumed a significant amount of caffeine had higher heart beats, breath rates, and slept less the first few days of life. So, if you are consuming a lot of coffee, cola, and chocolate consider cutting back or choosing caffeine free options. It is worth while for your baby and you will hardly miss the caffeine after the first couple of days.

However, you might want to cut out coffee and tea altogether because these beverages make it difficult for your body to absorb iron, an element that is very important especially during pregnancy. Of course, if you canít seem to forget about tea and coffee for 9 months you should only drink these in between meals so when you eat you will be able to absorb iron more easily.

Remember, when you are pregnant you may need to change your lifestyle a bit for the health of your baby, but it is not so much of a sacrifice. Also, when the baby comes your life will be turned upside down so it makes sense to get used to the changes early on!
